Our largest residential project of 2024 included 7,000 sq. ft. of 12×48 porcelain wood look floor tile, 13 bathrooms, an elevator, and marble backsplash. This gorgeous beach front property was a new build by Helmet House Construction. Hassell Free Tile & Windows had the honor of being the flooring subcontractor awarded the job. In this behind the scenes you’ll get the grand tour, learn about the materials and how they were used, and get a recap on the project timeline.

Grand Tour: The entranceway of this home brings you onto their shellstone deck overlooking the stunning waterfall pool with the main home on the right and guest home on the left. The first level features a theatre room, kitchen, living and dining rooms, a powder bathroom, an office with a bathroom and the master bed and bathrooms. The second floor has six bedrooms with attached bathrooms. An additional bathroom with a tub is also off the second floor hallway. The main house has an elevator and the captivating balconies and back porch overlook the beach. The first level of the guest house features a game room with cabana bath and attached garage. The second floor includes an exercise room and two additional bedrooms and bathrooms.

Another four share style 2 consisting of 8×20 glossy white wall tiles with a 1/2 offset tile pattern. The floors are a Celeste, Silk & Thassos 2″ Hex Marble Mosaic. The tub bath shares the 8×20 glossy white wall tiles set in a horizontal stack. The master bath is connected to the office bathroom and shares a White & Greek Polished Marble Parquet Mosaic on the wet and dry floors. The master shower has 24×48 Glossy Calacatta Gold wall tile vertically stacked. The master bath also had a freestanding tub. The office bath shares the same tile on three of its walls and its own unique feature wall of 23×47 Fluted Wood Look tile horizontally stacked. The homeowner worked with the designer of Helmet House to make these selections and purchased the tile at a local shop in Vero Beach. Our team provided the setting materials and labor to successfully complete this project.

Timeline: Our first visit to the job site was on April 5th of 2024. During this initial walk through we gathered information to provide an accurate quote for the project. We reviewed the scope of work and made adjustments to our quotation until all parties were in agreement. The project was approved on May 28th. By June 7th all bathrooms were prepped with waterproofing materials. By June 17th the tile was installed on the second floor of the main house. By July 12th the main floor was completed and most of the bathrooms. By August 15th we reached substantial completion. Punch work was determined and our project sign off was December 5th. The Certificate of Occupancy was granted the following week and the homeowners moved in just in time for Christmas. The final step of the project was completed the last week of January 2025 which was to tile the elevator that was not yet installed in the home.

This was our second successful installation project with Helmet House Construction. We will continue to bid their upcoming projects and look forward to working together on an upcoming remodel, an addition to a home, and another new build with engineered wood floors.

Stayed tuned for our next project recap!
